Stormeagle Tail Conversion

I wanted to add something a bit more ‘imperial’ on the Tail. this is the tail from the Raven kit and it came with the Eagle kit. As you can see I have converted up the tail, but it was fairly easy to do. It adds a lot to the kit and is loads better than the tinny weeny little thing you get with the Kit. You can’t have an eagle with a tail inferiority complex!

Blog 2-stormeagle assembly I have completed the sub assembly on my stormeagle. Its still in 7 parts, but its nearly ready for paint. Still needs some work doing in green stuff and then its ready for primer. The painting schedule will be to get the interior of the front section and the pilot compartment done. Then finish the assembly, prime the outside and the paint it. It has proven a bit of bitch to assemble, but it looks good so far.

Un-boxing the Stormeagle box was like Christmas, well it was Christmas, but you get the idea. The kit is 2 parts. You get 3 of the 4 Stormraven Sprue and a shed load of resin parts. The instructions take up 3 sides of a4. But these are very basic. None of the digital printouts of CGI model you get with the regular kits. Having worked with resin in the past and knowing from twitter that this kit is a bit of bugger, I expected some major warping. Sadly, I was not disappointed.

As with all FW stuff, first stop after checking the kit all there, was to wash it all in warm soapy water. I used a cheap toothbrush to scrub it as well. This clears the release agent from the resin. Even after this, the surface is not a clean as I would like. It still feels a bit off. So, I washed it again and it still feels strange, but I think it will be OK After letting it dry I set to prepping it. This has taken me 2 days so far, but the results are good. Some bits will need a slight fix with some green stuff, but nothing major. Now on to the assembly!
